A re-elected Gillard Labor Government will invest almost $9.6 million to improve the health of the environment of North East NSW.
The funding was announced today by the Environment Protection Minister, Peter Garrett, and the Member for Page Janelle Saffin. Investing in the North East environment is part of the Gillard Labor Government’s commitment to a sustainable Australia.

Federal Environment Protection and Heritage Minister Peter Garrett and Member for Page Janelle Saffin today visited EnviTE, a Registered Training Organisation, in Lismore to launch the North Coast Environment Employment Project.
Peter Garrett and Janelle Saffin met with workers and trainees at Heritage Park to discuss the benefits of the Jobs Fund project for the local community.

A re-elected Gillard Labor Government will support a $2.5 million, three-year national pilot project to restore 20 coastal wetlands close to urban developments in South East Queensland and North East NSW.
The announcement was made today by Environment Protection Minister Peter Garrett during a visit to Page with Member for Page, Janelle Saffin.Janelle Saffin said protecting the local environment was a key part of the Gillard Labor Government’s plan for a sustainable Australia.

Page MP Janelle Saffin today called on National Party candidate Kevin Hogan to come clean and explain how many more broadband towers would be built in Page under the Coalition’s ad-hoc broadband policy.
“The Liberal National Party Coalition must disclose how many towers would be built and where they would be located in our community.
“The Coalition’s broadband policy would result in thousands of fixed wireless broadband towers – potentially up to two stories tall - being constructed in suburbs and towns across Australia.
