Page MP, Janelle Saffin said today that local towns and cities in Page were set to join the digital revolution, with internet speeds up to 100 times faster than they are now.

Ms Saffin said local cities and towns set to be connected to the optical fibre network include Alstonville, Ballina, Casino, Evans Head, Grafton, Iluka, Kyogle, Lismore, Woodburn, Wooloweyah, Woombah and Yamba.

Today the Minister for Small Business, Craig Emerson, together with Federal Member for Page, Janelle Saffin, took part in the annual Pollies for Small Business event run by the NSW Business Chamber.

Each year the Pollies for Small Business program sees Members of Parliament from all political parties getting their hands dirty and working in small businesses.

Federal Member for Page Janelle Saffin has welcomed Prime Minister Gillard’s announcement that the Federal Election will be held on August 21.

“I’m ready for this election and proud to stand on my record of achievements as an effective local member.

“I have done what I said I would do and delivered on my 2007 election commitments for Page. By ensuring that Canberra paid attention to this area I have attracted much needed funding for health, education and community infrastructure which had long been denied this region under National Party representation.
